Hardware Hills Vineyard

Meet Andrea and Rob, proprietors of Central Virginia’s newest winery near historic Scottsville. Treat yourself to a white or red sangria as you nibble on one of the lite fare offerings. Check the calendar for Live music and food trucks.

Valley Road Vineyards

Make this readily located winery off 151, your first stop. Comfy chairs with nice views are situated on multiple decks, some with a covering that is perfect for rainy weather. Because there are so many decks it never feels overcrowded. 

Meriwether Springs Vineyard & Brewery

Wine or beer? Fear not this historic estate, once belonging to famed explorer Meriwether Lewis offers both. Ideally located a few miles from the University of Virginia you can enjoy libations and live music throughout the summer and fall. 

Merrie Mill Farm and Vineyard

This unassuming winery is impressive the moment you walk through the door. The décor is whimsical and artsy. Comfortable seating is available inside and throughout the property. Try the rose’ while you are there, it is delightful.

Knight’s Gambit

A short drive from Charlottesville, along the Monticello AVA is this multi-generational, family-owned farm/vineyard. Rooted deeply in the community, this winery produces estate classics such as: Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. 

King Family Vineyards

Polo is a sport for Kings. In this case, the “Kings” are family, not nobility, which hosts a weekly, must-see polo match. Come sample wine fit for royalty at this vast family-owned estate surrounded by open fields and soaring Mountains.

Hark Vineyards

Head to Hark, an outside winery only, when the weather is fair. The beautiful scenery in addition to the tasting experience makes it well worth the visit. They offer a tastings menu which varies from dry white wines to full-bodied reds. 

Grace Estate Winery

This is the winery to visit in Albemarle County. It is spacious inside and out with captivating views. Staff is friendly and courteous. You can enjoy your vino on the back porch or one of the picnic tables scattered throughout the property. 

Glass House Winery

While ensconced in this glass arboretum you can savor your wine amid a tropical paradise. My favorite winter go-to place especially when I am missing summer. Otherwise, any season is good to Indulge in the wineries hand-made chocolates.
