UVA Health’s Emergency Department is a 70-bed, Level I trauma center providing emergency care for adults and children. Separate adult and pediatric emergency areas allow specialized care for patients of different ages, while dedicated services include rapid medical evaluation for less complex emergencies and a separate section for behavioral and mental health emergencies. The department also has specialized capabilities for emergency surgery, interventional cardiology and radiology, and the treatment of critical and life-threatening conditions.

The Emergency Department treats a full spectrum of illnesses and injuries, working quickly to stabilize patients and provide lifesaving care for conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, severe allergic reactions, burns, broken bones, serious illnesses, and other emergencies. UVA’s emergency services are supported by Poison Control and specialized emergency transport, including air and ground medical transport.

Free parking is available in the Lee Street Parking Garage, directly across from the Emergency Department. Valet parking is also available at the Emergency Department entrance; current hours and pricing should be confirmed with UVA Health before visiting.
