The 70-bed, Level 1 trauma center Emergency Department (ED) of the UVA Medical Center features a separate space for pediatric and adult patients, a chest pain center, and a dedicated space for mental health services. The Department treats the full spectrum of disease and acuity working fast to stabilize patients, intervening to stop a heart attack, stroke, or severe allergic reaction, and treating burns, broken bones, illnesses, and pain that hasn’t responded to over-the-counter medicine. The ED is supported by a poison control center and utilizes active air and ground transport programs. Waiting rooms have TVs, comfortable seating, tables, and charging stations.
Free parking is available in the Lee Street Parking Garage, directly across from the Emergency Department. Valet parking is available at the Emergency Department entrance Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM for a charge.
