The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Charlottesville (RMHC) is to provide a semblance of normalcy, comfort, and support to families whose children are being treated in the Charlottesville area. RMHC is located close to the UVA Corner and just blocks from the UVA Children’s Hospital. Since its inception, RMHC has provided a temporary home away from home at little to no cost for families whose children (18 years and younger) are receiving treatment for a severe illness or injury at the University of Virginia Medical Center or Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. RMHC helps to lessen the financial burden, reduce stress, keep the family intact, and enhance the quality of life for these families. Stays at the Ronald McDonald House require a referral, please visit their website for more information about getting on the waiting list and other policies and procedures.
