The North Grounds Parking Garage, located at the intersection of Massie Road and Copeley Road directly across from Palmer Park, home of UVA Softball, is anticipated to open in late 2026. Designed to expand parking capacity for daily commuters, the six-level garage will also enhance parking availability for John Paul Jones Arena events and UVA athletic competitions. In addition to providing 1,030 parking spaces, the facility will serve as a UVA Transit hub with dedicated access for up to four buses and covered passenger seating. It will also house the Wahoo Wheels Bike Garage, UVA’s first dedicated space for bicycle and micromobility education and promotion, featuring secure storage for bicycles and e-bikes, charging stations, and flexible indoor-outdoor space to support active transportation.

The garage’s three-bay layout includes two flat parking bays and one ramped parking bay on each level, with vehicle access provided from Copeley Road at Level 1 and Massie Road at Level 3. Electric vehicle charging will accommodate up to 22 vehicles on Level 3. The project also incorporates numerous sustainable design features, including energy-efficient lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, secure bicycle storage, e-bike charging locations, bioretention stormwater basins, bird-safe glass, and a dynamic landscape along Massie Road that enhances the experience for pedestrians, transit riders, and visitors attending JPJ Arena and UVA Athletics events.
