Memorial Gym

WELCOME

Originally designed in 1921-24 as a memorial to the 2,700 students and alums who died in WWI, it was the third biggest gymnasium in the east when finished. In 1940, President Roosevelt gave a famous address at the gym decrying Italy’s declaration of war on France. This historical building was placed on the Virginia Landmarks Registry in 2004.
