Proprietors Michael and Nancy McCarthy began their pizza expedition in the summer of 2007 when they bought Dr. Ho’s Humble Pie. A graduate of culinary school, Michel took pizza making to a whole new level. The dough is homemade, hand tossed, and ingredients are locally sourced. The philosophy being that there is no short cut to good pizza.
Rustic, unassuming with a hippy type of vibe, it’s worth the 15-minute drive outside of Charlottesville for a few slices of what some locals believe is the best pizza around.
Aside from their delicious pizza, Dr. Ho’s offers a wide variety of food items which includes everything from salads and sandwiches to orange chicken and lasagna. Their claim to fame is that everything on the menu is made on premise from scratch.
