The Virginia Festival of the Book brings writers and readers together to promote and celebrate books, reading, literacy, and literary culture. The year-round Shelf Life virtual event series offers programs for readers of all levels and interests, while the annual Festival takes place each March and features authors, conversations, readings, workshops, and other literary events spanning a wide range of topics and genres.
The Festival’s programming encourages discovery, discussion, inspiration, and connection, bringing together readers, writers, and literary enthusiasts from the region and beyond. Events take place at a variety of venues throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County, creating opportunities to experience the literary community both on and off the University of Virginia Grounds.
