Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the art, culture, and stories of Indigenous Australia. The museum cares for more than 3,700 works of art, making it the most significant collection of its kind outside Australia and the only museum in the United States dedicated to Indigenous Australian art. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, and other works created primarily from the 1940s to today, giving visitors the chance to see both historic and cutting-edge contemporary Indigenous art.
One of the special features of Kluge-Ruhe is that its exhibitions change every 6 to 12 months, so returning visitors can experience something new. Guests can also take a free 30-minute guided tour offered daily at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Families can enjoy hands-on activities, including a touch station featuring materials used by Indigenous Australian artists, children’s books, and self-guided gallery activities. The museum also features exhibitions organized with Indigenous Australian artists and curators, creating an experience that goes beyond simply viewing art and helps visitors connect with the cultures and stories behind the works.
